June 3,4 – Along the Ottawa River

Yesterday was very rainy so we decided to go to the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology. If you have been to the Science Centre that this is a letdown, as it is not very interactive and in 2 hours we saw everything and decided to go shopping for a few more things for the RV and biking stuff.

Today we spent most of the day 11:00 – 3:00 riding along the Rideau Canal to the City Centre, then along the Ottawa River for a while until the trail ended and then back to our car. It was about  around 52 kms and with the beautiful sun and shade, scenery and walking bits, I was exhausted  by the time we got back to the RV.  There are so many bike trails and people are quite respectful of cyclists here, we are thinking of moving here to retire.  There are numerous trails for walking, biking, cross country skiing, jogging; residents here look healthy because there are so many outdoor activities available.  As we cycled along the canal, it felt like we were in cottage country and not a major metropolis.  There were beautiful homes surrounded with trees peaking in around the modulating landscape.  There were docks built from the local roads and all quite green; not concrete and skyscrapers.
